Prima Prostate Test
WHAT ABOUT ?
The prostate specific antigen is a protein secreted in the semen by the prostate. A part of this protein is found in the blood. Te blood PSA level allows estimating the prostate physiological condition. A value higher than the norm indicates prostatehypertrophy. Tis hypertrophy may be benign, be due to prostatitis or may be cancerous in case of adenocarcinoma.
Men from 45 to 75 years old.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Check the level of the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) in blood to verify a prostatic physiological alteration.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The PSA test allows determining a high blood level, above 4 ng/mL, of prostate specific antigen likely to show benign or malignant prostate hypertrophy.
WHY SHOULD I DO THE TEST?
The PSA level in blood gives an indication of the physiological condition of the prostate. Values above the norm may show a hypertrophy of the prostate. Size variation could be benign - due to a soft inflammation, for example - but it could also have malign causes. Checking the normality of the PSA value is a very good tool for verifying prostate health status and eventually taking the required preventive actions. In case of cancer, early detection and prevention can be life saving.
