Prima Cholesterol Test Pack of 2
WHAT ABOUT IT?
It travels in the bloodstream in “packages” of fat and protein called lipoproteins. The two main types are HDL and LDL. HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) often called “good” cholesterol because it appears to clear excess cholesterol from the arteries. LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) often called “bad” cholesterol, because it tends to build up on artery walls.
For everybody, first of all for people with cardiovascular issues.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Check the concentration of cholesterol in blood to verify abnormally high levels.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The cholesterol test is based on the reaction cholesterol esterase / cholesterol oxidase / peroxidase / chromogen. The intensity of the colour developed by the reaction is proportional to cholesterol concentration in the blood.
WHY SHOULD I DO THE TEST?
Cholesterol is produced by the liver and absorbed mostly from food. It contributes to forming cellular membranes, neurons and hormones. The normal level of cholesterol should be lower than 200 mg/dl; in case of higher levels the risk of heart attack and arteriosclerosis is increased. High cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for developing heart disease and having a heart attack. It is important to find out what your levels are because lowering high cholesterol reduces your risk of heart attack. Checking the level of cholesterol in the blood is a very good tool for verifying our own health status and eventually taking the required preventive actions.
