A1C Now Self Check HbA1c Self Test Device - 2 Tests Included
What will it help you with?
Haemoglobin is a protein component of the red blood cell and carries oxygen around the body. When haemoglobin joins with glucose it becomes glycated to form glycated haemoglobin A (HbA1c or A1c). HbA1c or A1c tests can measure the level of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) in your blood over a period of 8 – 12 weeks, which provides useful information on glucose control.
HBA1c provides a longer-term trend, similar to an average, of how high your blood sugar levels have been over a period of time. This is measured using a fasting plasma glucose test, which can be carried out using blood taken from a finger or can be taken from a blood sample from the arm. However, fasting glucose tests provide an indication of your current glucose levels only, whereas the HbA1c test serves as an overall marker of what your average levels are over a period of 2-3 months.
For most people with diabetes, the HbA1c target is below 6.5 per cent, since evidence shows that this can reduce the risk of developing diabetic complications, such as nerve damage, eye disease, kidney disease and heart disease.
Individuals at risk of severe hypoglycaemia should aim for an HbA1c of less than 7.5 per cent. However, any reduction in HbA1c levels (and therefore, any improvement in control), is still considered to have beneficial effects on the onset and progression of complications.
Who is it for?
The A1c Now test is designed for any Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetic wants to understand their HbA1c % from home. The GP will be sending you for this test a few times per year anyway but it allows you to do it in the comfort of your own home when and where you want it from a finger prick.
What does it Do?
The A1CNow SELF CHECK products comes in a convenient 2-test pack with all the items you need to complete both tests (monitor, test cartridge, fingerstick lancet and blood collector.) This may be the same device your GP uses to measure your A1C results in the exam room. A1CNow systems are trusted by the medical community.
Why should I use this?
Results are displayed in 5 Mintes from a small portable single use test device from small finger prick sample of blood. No maintenance affordable to use and accuracte.
Accuracy studies were conducted with 189 subjects with and without diabetes across three US sites. Fingerstick sampling was performed on each subject for testing with A1CNow+, and venous blood was collected from each subject for comparative testing using an NGSP-certified method. A1CNow+ results were compared to the NGSP reference results.
The results showed that the accuracy of A1CNow+, with fingerstick samples was, on average, 99%.
